Services

Full Service Groom

A full haircut with the works: bath, blow dry, brush, nail trim, ear cleaning, sanitary trim, paw pad shave, and gland expression (upon request).

Bath Only

Includes blow dry, brush, nail trim, ear cleaning, and gland expression (upon request). A deshedding treatment may be included for certain breeds.

Face Feet & Tail

For dogs whose coat is at a length you'd like to maintain (no body haircut) but needs some shaping. This includes a sanitary shave, paw pad shave, and face trim.

Outline Trim

For a double-coated dog; includes everything in the bath service plus a haircut. Typically this is a scissor-only cut.

Shave sanitary area (genital/anal area)

Paw Pad Shave

Shave bottoms of feet for cleanliness, health, and traction

Paw Trim (Top of Feet)

Gets rid of "grinch feet"

Deshedding Shampoo + Conditioner (Treatment)

Helps loosen shedding hair for removal during bath and groom. This is included in the price for some double-coated breeds.

Deskunking

Removes skunk odor using targeted shampoo & rinse method

Flea & Tick Shampoo

Kills active fleas (not a preventative or infestation treatment)

Nail Clipping & Buffing

Clip and/or dremel nails to remove sharp edges and remove more length than basic clipping

Cancellations and No-Shows

We understand that most of us have busy schedules and sometimes things change last minute. Cancellations must be done 24 hours prior to your pet's appointment. If your appointment is cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours prior, you may be required to pay a non-refundable deposit to book your next appointment.

Matted Pet

At Paws on the Potomac your pet's health is a priority. If it can be determined that your pet only has a few matts, they can be thinned out or spot shaved. Pets with extensive matting must be shaved down. This is because brushing out mats is a painful experience for your pet. Restarting the coat is best to avoid a damaged coat matting back up and causing more discomfort. Remember that hair grows back much faster than your pet’s trust in the grooming process.

Right to Turn Away Pets with Aggressive Behavior

The safety of your pet and their groomer is of top priority. If at any point before or during the service your pet exhibits behavior that is determined unsafe, they may be turned away without completion of the service. Please inform your groomer of any aggressive tendencies, quirks, or sensitive areas your dog may have upon booking.

Booking Minimum

As a mobile groomer, it can get costly to travel distances for minimal services. The minimum visit fee is $80. This fee is your bill — not an added charge. If you're interested in services that total less than this amount, please inquire, as there may be exceptions.

About Me

Hi, I'm Taryn — the groomer behind Paws on the Potomac — and if we’re at a gathering, I’m the one on the floor making friends with the dog. Animals have always been my comfort zone. As a kid, I dreamed of running a pet rescue (still do, one day!). I even looked into becoming a vet or vet tech, but it turns out you basically have to be a doctor to be a vet — and vet techs, while amazing, don’t get paid nearly what they deserve for such a tough job.

Eventually, I got my cosmetology license, but doing hair on people never really clicked for me — too much pressure. Dogs are my people. Grooming lets me combine hands-on care with creativity, and best of all, I get to work with animals I truly love.

I started Paws on the Potomac because I wanted to create something sustainable for my future — and offer a grooming service that’s high-quality, trustworthy, and convenient. I know life gets busy, and your dog’s health can’t wait, so I bring the spa to your doorstep.

What makes my service special? It’s simple: I care. I’m not rushing to squeeze in the next appointment — I want your dog to leave feeling better, looking great, and maybe even a little lighter on their paws. You’ll only pay for the services your pet actually receives. No funny business. Just honest, personalized grooming.

My approach is kind and intuitive. I know that anxious or reactive pets often just need patience and understanding. I do my best to make grooming a safe, calm experience for every dog — especially the ones who need a little extra reassurance.
